Nephrological Associates was founded more than 40 years ago by Martin Jacobs, MD, a pioneering physician in New Jersey medicine, and today the practice is one of the largest and most highly respected nephrology groups in the region.  Dr. Jacobs was instrumental in bringing early diagnosis and treatment of kidney disease to New Jersey, and establishing the renowned renal transplant center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center.  Dr. Ronald Viscuso and then Dr. Neil Lyman joined the practice where they remain as active senior partners.

 

Over the years, Nephrological Associates has added additional top physicians from prestigious national training programs including partners Robert Zenenberg, DO, John Saldarini, MD, Jeffrey Goodman, MD, and Kezia Alberto, MD. Associates include Seema Karanjgaokar, MD and Shivangi Patel, MD. The practice also benefits from dedicated and experienced nurse practitioners who focus on the care of patients undergoing chronic dialysis - Evelyn Johnston, NP and Chantileer "Chandy" Bondurant, NP.

 

The subsequent formation and addition of the Comprehensive Kidney Disease Center (CKDC), which manages all of the complexities for those with kidney disease, was an important step in assuring that patients are provided with the highest level of care within a multidisciplinary framework. The CKDC provides this care in a personal and compassionate environment that emphasizes educating patients and working closely with primary care doctors and other specialists so they can be partners in their own treatment planning and decision making.
